Outline of The Group’s History


1949 September Nihon Tategu Kogyo Co., Ltd. (now JS Group Corporation) established.
1966 April Housing aluminum sash business commences.
1969 August Nakazato Plant (now Noda R&D Center), the first plant equipped with an integrated production line, completed.
1971 October A newly formed Toyo Sash Co., Ltd. established by absorbing Toyo Door and four other companies.
1974 November Housing exterior business commences. Toyo Exterior Co., Ltd. established.
1977 April Home center business commences. Viva Home Corporation (later Tostem Viva Corporation) established.
  September Sash business for commercial building commences. Production of sashes for commercial buildings commences with the completion of Kuki plant.
1984 May Homebuilding franchise chain operation commences. Eyeful Home Technology Inc. established.
1985 February Sash business for super-high-rise buildings reinforced. Mitsui Light Metal Processing Co., Ltd. joins the Group, followed by the participation of Nittetsu Curtain wall Corporation and Nittetsu Sash Sales Corporation in December.
  May Dai-ichi Mokko Co., Ltd. (now Bright Home Corporation) joins the Group.
  August Toyo Sash Co., Ltd. listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
  November Housing equipment business commences. Meiwa Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Meiwa Co., Ltd. join the Group.
1986 October Bathroom manufacturer, Sanyo Chemical Manufacturing Co., Ltd. joins the Group. Bathroom production commences.
1987 March Toyo Sash Co., Ltd. moved to the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1988 June Overseas production commences with the completion of Thai plant.
1992 July Toyo Sash Co., Ltd. renamed as Tostem Corporation.
2000 October Shutter business for commercial buildings commences. Suzuki Shutter Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (now Tostem Suzuki Shutter Mfg. Co., Ltd.) becomes wholly owned subsidiary of Tostem through a stock swap.
Restructuring of Tostem Group commences. Toyo Exterior Co., Ltd. and Eyeful Home Technology Inc. becomes wholly owned subsidiary through a stock swap.
  December Land inspection company, Japan Home Shield Co., Ltd., becomes a subsidiary.
2001 April Tostem Viva Corporation merged with Tostem Corporation.
  October Name changed from Tostem Corporation to Tostem Inax Holding Corporation. At the same time, a new company called Tostem Corporation established through a corporate separation. All business transferred to this company and Tostem Inax Holding Corporation becomes a pure holding company.
Management integrated with Inax Corporation through a stock swap. Inax Corporation becomes wholly owned subsidiary of Tostem Inax Holding Corporation.
2002 January Real estate franchise chain, Jyu-Tsu Corporation (now Jyu-Seikatsu Realty, Corp.) joins the Group.
  June The plant of Tostem Housing Products (Dalian) Co., Ltd. in Dalian, China, which produces wooden interior furnishings, completed.
  September Advanced Housing Research Corporation established to enhance homebuilding franchise business.
  October Tostem Inax Remodeling Corporation established by integrating commercial-building remodeling business within the Group.
The plant of Shuzhou Inax Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd. in China, which produces sanitary earthenware, completed.
2003 April Nihon Kentetsu Engineering acquired and name changed to Tostem Kentetsu Corporation to strengthen sales to large-scale commercial buildings in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
2004 October Tostem Inax Holding Corporation renamed as JS Group Corporation.
2005 January Asahi Tostem Exterior Building Materials Co., Ltd. established through integration of the exterior wall materials businesses of Tostem Corporation and Asahi Glass Co., Ltd.
  October Nittan Company Limited joins the Group.


History of Inax Corporation before management integration (summary)

1924 Ina Seito Co., Ltd. established and production of tiles commences.
1945 Production of sanitary ware commences.
1967 Production of bidet-equipped toilet seat "Shower toilet" commences.
1968 Production of unit bathrooms commences.
1975 Production of kitchen systems commences.
1985 Renamed Inax Corporation.
1996 Inax-Giang Vo Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd. (joint venture) established in Vietnam to produce sanitary ware. Suzhou Inax Sanitary Fitting Co.,Ltd. (joint venture) established in China to produce faucets.
1998 Suzhou Inax Building Materials Co., Ltd. (joint venture) established in China to produce tiles.
2001 Stock swap with Tostem Inax Holding Corporation.
